Here is a song that bring me back to my days of loving house music. Someone taught me a little about love with this song. Didn’t want to load this youtube song but couldn’t get my mp3 to load properly. Just listen to the song and dont watch anything.
This week we got the “Friends and Lovers” party. The whole week leading up to this party and V’day I am going to post some songs that got to do with love. First up we have Me’Shell N’degeocello with Love You Down. Listen to her entire album that this song is on.
“Love You Down” is a cover of Ready for the World, who I didn’t know also sang “Oh Sheila”. Look at their haircuts and look at their style. I am growing my hair out just like them.
We are throwing a party at Detroit Bar on Friday February 12th with GRNAPPLETREE clothing. I am truly excited for the line up and people working with us on this party. It is going to provide us the most diverse night of music which will keep everyone dancing. Stay tuned for the flyer tomorrow in our events section.
Going down Valentine’s day weekend it’s called “Friends and Lovers”
I know I do. They are having a concert with proceeds going to Haiti relief this Sunday at The Henry Fonda. That’s a good thing! The tickets are easy to get. You just have to be one of the 1,000 plus people bidding on the tickets. Currently the tickets minimum bid is $225. Details here!
I’ll have to catch them next time around. In the mean time you can watch a Radiohead video instead.
A few tracks I have been listening to the last couple days during the “El Nino” fun I have been having with my leaking roof. Both of them put together or produced by Damon Albarn of blur/gorillaz.
First up is Sabali by Amadou & Mariam. They are a blind couple from Mali who met at the blind institute and make great music. Listen to the track which is sang in their native tongue of Bambara-French. Then take a look at the lyrics here.
Next up is the Gorillaz track Stylo. To be able to repeat success of their last album is going to be tough. But if “Plastic Beach” which is dropping in March pulls it off they will have to have more tracks as good as this one. Great collaboration with Bobby Womack and Mos Def. Gorillaz - Stylo
